What is the Job?
The Sales Manager is responsible for achieving overall revenue targets while driving business development across all market segments. The role focuses on identifying and converting new opportunities, managing client relationships. Acting as a brand ambassador and trusted partner, the Sales Manager contributes to both revenue growth and long-term client loyalty.
Your day to day
- Actively source and convert all inquiries involving fewer than 10 rooms, including meetings and events, dry events, and catering-only requests.
- Execute sales calls, organise sales trips, and manage client entertainment activities as required to drive account development and revenue growth.
- Responsible for preparing proposals, securing signed contracts, and ensuring receipt of the Proforma Invoice.
- Generate and distribute the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and Change Log as required.
- Conduct BEO briefing sessions to communicate event arrangements, ensuring all teams are aligned with guest expectations and special requirements.
- Arrange technical meetings with clients and the operations team when necessary, particularly for VIP, high-profile, or large-scale events.
- Coordinate site inspections and walkthroughs with clients to confirm venue setup, staging, and logistical details.
- Ensure all supplies, equipment, and manpower are in place and ready for execution. Be present during events to oversee operations and promptly address any issues.
- Monitor event progress to ensure adherence to the agreed schedule and service standards.
- Identify and manage reservation discrepancies, no-shows, or cancellations, notify the organizer, and apply charges accordingly.
- Provide immediate solutions to any unforeseen challenges.
- Collaborate with Banquet and Front Office teams to close the PM account within one day after the event.
- Submit the contract and Proforma Invoice to Finance to ensure CSA compliance.
- Send a thank-you note and feedback survey to the client within three days after the event or group departure.
- Achieve monthly and annual personal targets, contributing to overall sales revenue.
- Responsible for providing status updates during weekly GRC Group reviews to improve conversion and build pipeline.
- Work with the DOS to develop strategy and action plans to support revenue growth.
- Coordinate familiarization visits and site inspections as required.
- Actively promote the hotel facilities and services to prospective and existing clients.
- Effectively utilize IHG systems and Tools including but not limited to Amadeus Delphi, Meeting Broker, RFP, Cvent, etc to streamline operations.
- Participate in key meetings, include but not limited to Sales & Marketing meeting, etc.
- Liaise with relevant departments to meet guest expectation during negotiation process to close the deals.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows, functions and exhibitions as required.
- Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the management from time to time.
What we need from you
- Diploma, Degree, higher education qualification, or equivalent in Events, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- In-depth understanding of corporate and group segments, catering sales, and conference services.
- At least four (4) years of experience in Sales, Events, or a related field.
- Experience in an upper-midscale or full-service hotel is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local businesses, market conditions, and business trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, persuade, influence, and drive sales effectively.
- Willingness to travel for trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is required, along with proficiency in the local language(s).
