Job Description

1.     Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Sales for all sales related issues.

2.     Interacts with other sales and departmental staff within the hotel and with other Thistle hotels and regional sales offices to ensure for effective cooperative relationships.

3.     Interacts with sales personnel of competitive hotels.

4.     Interacts with individuals outside the hotel within her/his scope of responsibility, including but not limited to clients, local hotel association, competitors and other members of the local community as directed through local marketing conditions.

5.     Responsible to achieve sales targets allocated by the management

6.     To effectively tap and cover the market according to territory and types of customer allocated by ADOS

7.     To build strong rapport with key accounts and provide efficient service to maintain business support

8.     To conduct personal sales calls to minimum of five (5) companies each day in order to establish and maintain a strong base of accounts

9.     To identify leads from various sources eg. Newspaper to gain more sales leads for new accounts

10. To keep updated market intelligence in monthly sales call reports, on-going feedback on competitors rates, promotions and activities and major events happening in the market

11. To ensure reports requested by ADOS are properly prepared and submitted on time

12. To ensure quotations for customers enquiries are prepared and sent promptly and follow up accordingly to close the sales

13. To conduct hotel inspection for potential customers systematically to promote the hotel facilities

14. To know thoroughly the products, facilities and services offered by the hotel

15. To entertain supporting clients through luncheon, cocktails and dinners on a regular basis

16. To be smartly and neatly dressed in order to project a professional image for the hotel. To be pleasant and polite at all times

17. Must be prepared to take on last minute assigned projects with  deadline

18. To ensure that customers change of address, designations, telephone, fax numbers and relevant details are amended promptly and customers mailing lists are updated accordingly

19. To participate in sales blitz according to guideline set by ADOS

20. To establish and maintain a good working relationship with staff within S & M department as well as staff in others departments

21. To develop a list of target accounts

22. To assist ADOS in work related to S & M when requested. Work delegated must be handled independently and efficiently until completion.

23. To re-enforce and maintain good relations with existing and prospective accounts in order to solicit new business for the hotel.

24. To implement all sales action plans related to his/her market areas as outlined in the Marketing Plan to ensure that goals are achieved.

25. To ensure that all agreements with or requirements of accounts booked are carried out prior to, during and following a group’s stay in the hotel.

26. Participate in formulation of the annual room’s revenue budget and Marketing Plan.

27. Communicate with the Director of Sales of changing market conditions, including trends in the competition, as a result of direct sales solicitation, telephone and direct mail in his/her market areas.

28. Ensures that appropriate efforts are expended on the solicitation and development of active, prospect, suspect and lost accounts.

29. Ensures efficient execution of all group programs and functions and contributes to the efficient function of the hotel’s efforts.

30. Participate in weekly sales meetings and daily sales briefings.

31. Attends appropriate industry functions.

32. Plans and executes appropriate sales trips to major market areas and reports to Director of Sales on new potential market.

33. Arrange hotel inspection to hotel for all potential clients.

34. Meets with all influential clients and arranges/attends pre and post conference meetings to provide effective communication and feedback in regard to client needs.

35. Maintains a high level of exposure for the hotel in major market areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone, fax and written communications.

36. Promotes and produces leads for other Thistle hotels.

37. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established hotel policies.

38. Establishes and maintains effective employee and inter-department relations.

39. Maintains the highest standards of professionalism, ethic and attitude towards all hotels guest, clients, staff and employers.

40. Maintains professional business confidentiality.

41. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
