Resort Manager

 

Reports to: Resort Owner

 

Job Overview:

The Resort Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations and management of a prestigious 5-star resort. This leadership role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in hospitality management, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for delivering an outstanding guest experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

· Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the resort's goals and objectives.

· Provide visionary leadership to the management team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

 

Financial Management:

· Manage the resort's budget, ensuring financial goals are met and expenses are controlled.

· Analyse financial reports and market trends to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings. 

· Assist the General Manager or Resort Owner with preparing monthly financial forecasts.

 

 

Guest Experience:

· Uphold and enhance the resort's reputation for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

· Oversee the implementation of high service standards across all departments.

· Personally and regularly verify that guests in the hotel are receiving the best possible service available

 

 

Operational Oversight:

· Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of all resort departments, including but not limited to front office, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, spa, and recreational facilities. 

· Ensure compliance with all relevant local regulations, resort’s standards, health and safety standards, and industry best practices.

· Ensures that the all operations adhere to all Company and Hotel Policies and Procedures and established Minimum Standards.

· Ensure that all departmental operations manuals and SOPs are up-to-date and reflect current practices.

 

Team Management:

· Recruit, train, and supervise department heads and staff.

· Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

· Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback

· Support the General Manager or Resort Owner in recruiting managers aligned with a centralized management philosophy and committed to the resort's vision.

· Trains and develops Heads of Departments enabling them to operate independently within their own departments

· Ensure Department Heads plans, implements and execute effective training programs for their teams, aligned with the resort’s training plans.

· Ensures that each Department head maximises productivity and moral within their respective departments following hotel guidelines and local legislation

· Delegates responsibilities well and exercises self-control at all times

· Provide both positive and constructive feedback to Department Heads and staff on job performance.

· Ensures fairness and objectivity in decision making

· Projects a positive and motivated attitude amongst his employees

 

 

Sales and Marketing:

· Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop and execute strategies for attracting and retaining guests.

· Explore partnerships and promotional activities to increase the resort's visibility.

· Fully understands the market needs and desires for each operation and ensures that the relevant product lines are developed by the Management Team accordingly

 

 

Facilities Management:

· Experience in overseeing maintenance and upkeep of the resort's physical facilities, including buildings, grounds, landscaping, and recreational areas.

· Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures to ensure all facilities are in optimal condition and comply with safety regulations.

 

Quality Assurance:

· Maintain and enhance the resort's 5-star standards in all aspects, including cleanliness, service quality, and facilities.

· Implement quality assurance programs to consistently meet or exceed guest expectations.

 

Community and Stakeholder Relations:

· Build positive relationships with the local community, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

· Represent the resort in a professional manner at industry events and in the local community.

 

Emergency Response and Crisis Management:

· Develop and implement crisis management plans to handle emergency situations effectively.

· Ensure the safety and well-being of guests and staff in all circumstances.

· Training in emergency response procedures and crisis management to effectively handle unexpected events such as natural disasters, power outages, or guest incidents.

· Ability to coordinate with emergency services and lead staff in implementing evacuation plans or other necessary actions to ensure guest and staff safety.

 

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

· Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

· At least 5  years minimum of relevant experience or similar role in luxury 5-star resort environment

· Proven experience as a Resort Manager or in a senior leadership role in a luxury resort environment.

· Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.

· Strong data analysis skills for tracking performance metrics and support informed decision- making

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry and current market trends.

· Ability to make strategic decisions and solve problems effectively.

· A commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

· Hands-on experience and thrive in practical , action- oriented person

· Demonstrate strong team spirit, skills and patience

· Job coaching  proficiency  

· Strong understanding and good knowledge of resort management software (Opera PMS System).

· Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand for long periods.

· May be required to work in outdoor settings.

· Working Conditions: While most tasks will be performed indoors, some duties may require outdoor work in varying weather conditions. The Resort Manager may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the resort's operational needs.
