Job Description


  • Overseeing the operation of the department and is fully responsible for room inventory and control
  • Lead, direct and co-ordinate the activities in the department in maximizing yield to improve profitability through diligent monthly forecasting.
  • To endeavor and to achieve, exceed the target set by the hotel
  • Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, assist in supervising the staff within the department ensuring that correct standards and methods of service are maintained as required
  • To assist in the building of an efficient team by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development
  • To respond to changes for the departmental function as dictated by the hotel and industry
  • To plan and executing of marketing plans, implementing unique sales and marketing strategies, participation of trade shows.
  • To maintain personal contacts with selected key customers and to back up the activities of any member of the sales team when required
  • To maintain secrecy of the Sales Department as well as of the Hotel
  • Ensure that all activities as outlines in the Sales & Marketing Business Plan are action and adhered to accordingly
  • Proactively promote brand awareness by organizing marketing events and activities. Increase brand recall and consumer demand in targeted market and geographic segments in line with the Hotel's business goals
  • To be responsible for soliciting business from all segments, Corporate / Inbound and Outbound leisure / Wholesale to administer the day running of the Sales Department
  • Set example through professional, friendly attitude towards guests and co-workers, timely response to guests and co-workers needs and observance of sales office standard
  • Participates in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.
  • Works with sales managers to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy for the segment
  • Maintain and promote a teamwork environment with effective and clear communication amongst co-workers.
  • Ensure best guest service is being made available through communication amongst the team, cross training within the department and appropriate office coverage.
  • To undertake any other assignment as assigned from time to time by the Hotel Manager


  • High degree of commercial awareness and be able to understand links between sales and profit with excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Good business sense and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Bachelor's Degree / Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or equivalent
  • 4 to 5 years' experience in the Sales and Marketing or related professional area and min 3 years' experience in a Senior Sales role.
