Job Description

Main Duties

Customer Service

  • Provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
  • Handle guest and associate enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, reporting complaints or problems if no immediate solution can be found, whilst providing a prompt follow-up.
  • Maintain positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.

 

Operational

  • Work closely with other associates in a supportive and flexible manner, focusing on the overall success of the hotel and the satisfaction of hotel guests.
  • Work in a supportive and flexible manner with other departments.
  • Carry out and completes all maintenance works/requests according to the established schedule and ensures high quality of finishing work.  Pays particular attention to guest related jobs.
  • Avoid unsightly hazards and complies with all local regulations and codes.
  • Properly handles and maintains all power tools.
  • Submit request to the Engineering Team Leaders, Assistant Managers or Director of Engineering for the purchases of parts and consumables.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all work areas and protects the surroundings when executing duties.
  • Ensure effective energy conservation measures in areas of operations.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Report any abnormal conditions noticed at any time in line with safety related equipment or installation to the Engineering Team Leaders, Assistant Managers or Director of Engineering.
  • Assist other tradespersons or technicians when requested by Superiors.
  • Ensure that the work assigned is carried out as accurately, skillfully and economically.
  • Review the log sheet.
  • Proper maintenance and operation of equipment/systems as delegated by the Engineering Team Leaders
  • Follow-up all defects at guestrooms daily through logbook or Engineering Request board.
  • Maintenance must be carried out in accordance with uniform system of the preventive maintenance.
  • The work as described on the work order form is carried out as quickly as possible, accurately, skillfully and economically.
  • Ensure that all electrical meters and other meters associated with this are logged.
  • Record accurately spare parts, supplies and time used on work orders.
  • Ensure the return of all borrowed tools, parts or items to the Engineering store.
  • Notify the Engineering Team Leaders, Assistant Managers or Director of Engineering in the event of anything unusual taking place.
  • Keep the workshop and any other working place clean and tidy.
  • Take safety precautions at all times during operation/working hours.
  • Adhere to all safety practice, safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist fellow colleagues on work orders and not allied to his own.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Team Leaders.
  • When working in guest areas, particular attention must be paid to the noise that may disturb the guests.
  • Repair and maintenance of all operating equipment, systems and installations including but not limited to the following:
  1. Telephone systems comprising of PABX equipment, telephone sets, paging equipment, distribution points, wiring and other associated works.
  2. Television systems comprising of television sets, videos, modulators, processors, antennas, wiring, distribution points and other associated works.
  3. Sound systems comprising of cassette recorder and compact disc players, amplifiers, equalizers, processors, speakers, microphones, cables and other associated works.
  4. Fire Life Safety systems comprising of sprinkler, hose reel, hydrant, automatic carbon dioxide extinguishers, portable extinguishers, fire alarm (break glass/bell and smoke detector) and other associated works.
  5. Perform emergency procedures relating to fire, life and safety, e.g., such as attending to fire alarms, lift rescue and ensures fire, life and safety systems are operational.
  • To be familiar with the Engineering department programs and procedures and apply them effectively. These include but are not limited to preventive maintenance, task force, maintenance request, repair log, fire and emergency evacuation, energy conservation, etc.
  • To be familiar with the hotel's operational procedures in general and in particular the Engineering Department's role and interaction with other departments.
  • Must willingly perform any other duties and tasks, assigned by a superior within his capabilities and means.
  • At any point of time all Engineering Request given to all staff should be completed respectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Team Leaders, Assistant Managers or Director of Engineering.
  • Abide by the company's rules, regulations and policies.

 

Other Duties

  • Ensure high standards of personal presentation and grooming.
  • Respond to changes in the Engineering function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.
  • Read the hotel's e-Associate Guide and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health and safety.
  • Attend learning sessions and meetings as and when required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • To perform duties outside the scope of his trade in case of emergency, if so called upon.
