Job Description

1.      Immediate recognition of all guests as they approach and using guest name where possible in a polite and professional manner.

2.      Collect keys and newspaper.

3.      Read log and initial report. Act on relevant information.

4.      Immediately assist guests with their luggage and/or any queries or requests they may have. Escort them to their room with their luggage.

5.      Ensure all luggage or items stored in the Porters store are tagged with the guests’ name and room number, then logged in the Luggage Log Book. The store should be locked at all times for security purposes.

6.      Porter’s desk and store are to be kept clean and tidy at all times.

7.      Check and clean outside entrance door. Ensure that window/glass areas in both entrances are kept clean.

8.      Check function notice boards for correct date, spelling and layout.

9.      Ensure all equipment on hire or loan to guest is recorded in the register book when issued and returned. If stock depletes, notify Concierge or Front Office Manager.

10.  Ensure that you have a thorough knowledge of the hotel and sound knowledge of Negeri Sembilan tourist attractions.

11.  Fill out your time sheet daily and have it approved by the Manager.

12.  Pass on key, paper and any relevant information to the Manager.

13.  Report any health, security hazards to the Manager.

14.  Attend all staff and training meetings as required.

15.  Ensure that all duties are carried out in line with the hotel policy, with high standards of personal appearance, hygiene and correct uniforms and name tags outlined in the Employee Handbook.

16.  To welcome guest at the main entrance, offering greetings appropriate of the time of day

17.  Helps to sell every facility of the hotel, and make the guest at home and interest him in all services offered by the hotel

18.  Show rooms to patrons and prospective guests

19.  Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time / or as and when required
