Job Description



Basic Function

  • Plan, execute and control all engineering works in the hotel.
  • Responsible for the efficient maintenance of the Hotel's building and equipment.
  • Conduct feasibility study and implement specific building/engineering projects.


Responsibility and Authority

  • Maintain the Hotel's building, fixtures, plant and equipment in excellent and working conditions.
  • Maintain high morale and productivity of all Engineering staff to ensure efficiency in the department.
  • Maintain effective communication and close working relationship with all other departments,    
  • especially Front Office, Food and Beverage and Housekeeping Department.
  • Prepare manual budget for maintenance expenditure and energy costs of the Hotel for approval.
  • Ensure that Maintenance Orders are completed by the Engineering staff and conduct surprise checks on the implementation of Maintenance Orders.
  • Plan and implement renovation projects.
  • Plan and implement system improvement projects.
  • Maintain regular checks and ensure smooth operation of all engineering systems in the Hotel at all times.
  • Renew all licenses relation to the engineering systems in the Hotel.
  • Check staff attendance and enforce staff discipline under his supervision when necessary.
  • Implement energy conservation measures and conduct energy audits to account for variances in energy consumption in the Hotel.
  • Develop and implement training programs and continuous training for the Engineering staff.
  • Attend the Department Heads' Operation Meeting and monthly Department meetings with his staff.
  • Control the use of engineering supplies, chemicals and spare parts in order to control expenses and minimize wastage.
  • Take personal charge of any major equipment breakdowns and emergency situations in the Hotel.
  • Exercise proper control over engineering contractors and supervise their works.
  • Maintain an optimal level of replacement parts in the Engineering stores at all times.
  • Be fully familiar of the Emergency Procedures, Policies and Standard Operating Procedures as established by the Hotel.
  • Ensure that the staffs comply with all the rules, regulations and policies established by the Hotel
  • Ensure that the staffs observe all safety and security measures established by the Hotel in the operating of the engineering plant and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the General Manager.

Plan and implement preventive maintenance for the following services:

  1. Medium and low voltage switching gears and other electrical equipment.      
  2. Lighting system.
  3. Emergency generators.
  4. Boilers / Heat recovery system
  5. Hot and cold-water system / Sanitary system.
  6. Air conditioning and mechanical ventilation system.
  7. Fresh air supply and exhaust system
  8. Kitchen installation.
  9. Lifts and escalators.
  10. Fire alarm and protection system.
  11. Swimming pool filtration plant / Water feature system.
  12. TV and sound system.
