Job Description

As a Commis Pastry Chef, you will support the pastry team in preparing high-quality desserts and baked goods. You will assist in daily kitchen operations, maintain cleanliness, and ensure food safety standards are followed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their pastry career and looking to develop skills in a professional hotel environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of cakes, pastries, breads, and other desserts as directed by senior chefs.

  • Measure, mix, and bake ingredients according to recipes and specifications.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pastry section and equipment at all times.

  • Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP standards.

  • Properly store ingredients and prepared items, ensuring freshness and minimal waste.

  • Help with mise en place and setup for daily service and events.

  • Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff and departments to ensure smooth operation.

  • Receive and unpack deliveries, checking quality and quantity of ingredients.

  • Attend and participate in team briefings and training sessions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastry Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Basic culinary qualification or certificate in Pastry or Baking (preferred).

  • 0–1 year of experience in a bakery, pastry shop, or hotel kitchen (fresh graduates welcome).

  • Passion for baking and pastry with a willingness to learn and grow.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and follow instructions.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
