We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team and lead our engineering department to new heights of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all resort infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical systems, sewage systems, HVAC, mechanical equipment (e.g., buggies), carpentry, and AV systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs (PMP) to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment across all maintenance areas.
- Ensure in-depth knowledge of air conditioning systems, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Proficiently implement and manage preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring efficient operation and adherence to safety standards for all equipment and systems.
Maintenance Operations & Coordination:
- Ensure the timely completion of maintenance tasks, ensuring all resort facilities and equipment remain in optimal condition.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services that require expert skills.
- Plan and execute maintenance activities in a way that minimizes disruption to guest experiences, prioritizing off-peak hours when possible.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with local government regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect both guests and staff, including emergency response procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure the maintenance team adheres to health and safety regulations, minimizing risks of accidents or injuries.
- Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring adherence to safety standards and resort-specific guidelines.
Budget Management & Cost Control:
- Oversee the department’s budget, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently and cost-effectively without compromising quality or safety.
- Monitor maintenance-related expenses, including repairs, equipment, and supplies, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Support the planning and execution of capital projects and renovations, ensuring they stay within budget and align with the resort’s financial goals and timelines.
- Continuously identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies to optimize operational performance.
Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:
- Implement strategies to improve energy efficiency and promote sustainable practices within the resort.
- Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new technologies and systems to reduce environmental impact.
Inventory & Resource Management:
- Assist in managing the maintenance department's inventory, including tools, equipment, and spare parts. ensuring availability for ongoing repairs and maintenance.
- Proactively manage stock levels and order materials and supplies as needed to prevent shortages.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, repairs, and parts replacements to support effective tracking and future planning.
Training & Development:
- Provide guidance and training to the maintenance team on technical skills, safety protocols, and proper equipment handling.
- Support performance management by conducting regular assessments and addressing performance issues promptly.
- Assist in managing work schedules, shift allocation, and resources to meet the operational demands of the resort.
Crisis Management:
- Work closely with the resort management to ensure that emergency response protocols are up-to-date, ensuring that all engineering personnel are trained to handle critical situations such as fires, floods, or major power failures.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans for all critical systems (including fire safety, water, electricity, and HVAC). This should include risk assessments and response strategies in the event of natural disasters, fires, or equipment failures.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in engineering or facilities management, preferably in hospitality.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems.
- Familiarity with regulations and industry best practices.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve engineering problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in air conditioning, charging, carpentry, and electrical work
- Hands-on experience and thrive in practical, action-oriented person
- Proficiency in English & Bahasa Malaysia
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate resort needs.
- Must be available for emergency response and on-call support as necessary.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to maintenance work, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying environments.
